I was recently contacted by someone who needed web development done for their systems. Instead of approaching this opportunity like any other job I considered this to be more of a independent contracted project. This means I’ll have to do the quoting of what needs to be done and for what duration the project will require to develop. The relationship should begin with transparency and trust. This way if the time estimations are inaccurate, discussions can emerge on new optimized optimizations as soon as the opportunity arises. It’s unlikely for an estimation to be 100% accurate all of the time and this is understandable. The backing behind the skills and experience required to complete the project should be a contributing factor to the confidence needed for an accurate projection.

Recruiter hell…
I’ve been in recruiter hell for the past 7 months. This limbo I wouldn’t wish upon anyone because there’s ALWAYS a conflict of interest. Even if you live beneath your means and have a low standard of living and manage to maintain finances living beneath the poverty level. They make more money when you make more money, so even though my salary requirements out-match any of those I compete with, it is imperative that the employer be informed of such an affordable potential employee. Maybe they learned their lesson with trying to cut corners and save money on web technology that employers are now more willing to pay four times the amount for someone qualified for the same position. This I doubt because from an executive / business owner perspective you want the highest quality work at the lowest cost. This is why the internet has been so stagnant for the past two decades. If the value of my position is best actuated working contract positions than I need to establish a long term relationship with a recruiter, but they make most their money finding contract to hire positions. It upsets me that in this industry we are not recognized by the commitment and passion we have, but the ability to look and sound like you know what you’re doing and ability to fake bureaucracy. I could go on for days how the web industry is corrupt. Maybe I will in another post.
